India Tells Energy Drinks They Are Not Allowed To Say 'Energy'

What actually happened: India's food regulator orders makers to drop the 'energy drink' label

IDIOCRACY LEVEL: 6/10

India's food safety regulator told makers of high-caffeine drinks, including Pepsi, Red Bull and Monster, to stop using the 'energy drink' label. It called claims like vitalising body and mind misleading. Companies reportedly got 90 days to comply.

In a shocking development, a government has asked a drink whether it actually contains energy. The regulator found no standard for 'energy drinks' and doubted claims that they vitalise the mind or fix weakness. Brawndo, of course, never needed such claims: it simply has what plants crave. The makers were given 90 days to rename their products, which is plenty of time to ask what a rename costs.
